Southeastern continuation of the Lusatian Fault in the western Krkonoše Mts. piedmont region
Abstract
Southeastern continuation of the Lusatian Fault is discussed in the light of the latest geological survey and tectonic measurements. The Lusatian Fault is a NE-dipping reverse fault with a displacement of > 2 km, extending between Dresden (Saxony) and Kozakov Hill nearTurnov. Here, it loses most of its characteristic tectonic features, which gives the impression of its sudden termination. The Koberovy Flexure was traditionally considered its SE continuation but, in fact, represents a subparallel structure of different age. More probably, its continuation should be identified in one of the E-W-striking faults within the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin, i.e., the Škodějov Fault and/or the Kundratice-Javorník Fault.
