Abstract

During last decade the number of industrial composting plants in the Czech Republic is growing. The identification of the provided compost composition is recently in great demand, for it might increase its applicability. The mineral composition determination provides data on elements amount that are necessary for plant nutrition. Mineral composition was evaluated on 6 compost samples from plants in Brno vicinity. Samples represent seasons with the highest production of biomass - summer and autumn. The mineral composition was determined by X-ray diffraction with internal standard ZnO, evaluated according to Rietveld methods (Bish - Post 1989, Bish - Post 1993) with sw. Topas ver. 4.2. Major component is amorphous quartz. The other mineral phases are present as accessory - oligoclase, muscovite, albite, orthoclase, mikrokline, chlorite, calcite, amfibolite. There are minerals weddellite (MD-5,1 wt.%) and whewellite (MD-4,9 wt.%) in natural compost.
