Abstract

The prospection for uranium ore in the years 1958-1960 in the Horní Blatná mining district performed by the Soviet-Czechoslovak uranium mining concession, led to outline three areas for detail search for uranium mineralization. They are indicated in the geological map (Fig. 1) and the reasons to deliminate them are given. The decision of the Soviet mining directorate of the Jáchymov district in the year 1959 to close down exhausted uranium mines (exploited intensively from 1946 for more than 12 years) has also stopped the prospecting of the Horní Blatná area. Detail works to prove the mining potential for uranium in the Horní Blatná and Potůčky areas were not accomplished.
