Abstract

Nearly 60 % of villages in the Czech Republic are situated on the bedrock characterised by intermediate radon category (the intermediate category of radon risk is intended for inhomogeneous Quaternary sediments). We have made the measurements of soil gas radon concentrations on five profiles on Quaternary sediments (situated on different types of geological basement) to examine the effect of the geological basement on the resulting soil gas radon concentration on Quaternary sediments. The results were compared with the indoor radon measurements. The results show high effect of the geological basement on the level of soil gas radon concentrations and indoor radon concentrations measured on the Quaternary sediments.
