Abstract

The locality Ahnikov (Miocene of the Most Basin) yielded trace fossils in the form of hollows bored in bones of carapaces of terrestrial turtles. Their casts show an irregular to quite regular, tongue-lie shape with more robust margins, smooth (except the xenoglyph). These are distinguished from the already described ichnofossils. We presume that they represent traces of insect larvae, and that they combined feeding and dwelling functions.
