Abstract

Space and time variability of the lithofacies distribution between the top of the Jizera Formation and the base of the thick bodies of the quartzose sandstones in the Bohemian Paradise is important to solve using biostratigraphy. For the stratigraphic evaluation of pelitic lithofacies is important the study of calcareous nannofossils. Nannofossil assemblages with scarce presence of Zeugrhabdothus biperforatus give evidence for zone interval UC9b-UC9c (Burnett 1998), upper Upper Turonian and Lower Coniacian. High numbers of Marthasterites furcatus state more precise stratigraphic range from the uppermost Turonian. Taxonomic problems of Arkhangelskiellaceae, especially Broinsonia parca expansa and Thiersteinia ecclesiastica are discussed.
