Abstract

The geologic cross-sections, constructed on the base of existing geological maps and drillings allowed to define the new important tectonic structure in the eastern part of the České středohoří Mts. This structure, called the Proboštov Fault Field disrupted the sediments of the Cretaceous cover as well as the Tertiary volcanic-sedimentary complex. The fault field is situated in the SE flank of the flat assymetric Benešov Syncline. This fault field is generally oriented in the same direction as the syncline axis, i.e. SW-NE. The bed inclination in this climb ranges between 1.5-2.5° to NW. The Proboštov Fault Field divides the eastern part of the České středohoří Mts. into two great tectonic blocks. The NW block subsided as much as 320 m.
