Granitoids and metamorphosed Proterozoic in the Padrť-ponds area, SW Brdy-Highland
Abstract
An unknown intrusion of granitic rocks has been discovered in the W-Bohemian Proterozoic westwards of the Padri-ponds. It is evidently connected with the well known granitic occurrence eastwards of the ponds where it is presented as an individualized minute massif. Occurrences on both sides of the ponds (as well as underneath) belong obviously together as a coherent body which can be called the Padri-stock. It represents a far to NW extended promontory of the NW margin of the Variscan Central Bohemian Pluton. From petrographic point of view, the rock in the new occurrence exhibits the character of even- and medium-grained leucocratic biotite granite. Neoproterozoic siltstones in its surroundings are transformed into biotite hornfelses. Thick soil regolith of Quaternary + Tertiary age mostly covers the bedrock.
