Abstract

Some new informations on spatial distribution and geomorphological characteristics of landslides in the highest region of the White Carpathians Mts. in relation to local topography and geological conditions are presented, gained through detailed mapping made at a scale of 1 : 10 000. A remarkable structural landscape, reflecting occurrence of various structural units of the flysch nappes of the Outer Western Carpathians differently resistant to denudation, is developed in many places of the surveyed area. In addition, irregular frequence and varied type of landslides within individual structural units have been recognized there. Three most interesting areas are described in detail: the ridge of the Studený vrch Hill, western slope of the Velký Lopeník Mt. and the valley of the Svinárský potok brook in the vicinity of the Velká Javořina Mt.
