Abstract

The follow-up research in the Dyje flood plain deals with the details of fluvial and aeolian sediments in the given area. The settlement of the tops of sand dunes as well as of elevated gravel "islands" (gravel bars) was documented. The upper Holocene silicate soil (Paternia - Fluvizem after FAO) developed on the sandy gravel was determined underneath the Mound (fortification) at Pohansko near Nejdek, a well known Great Moravian locality. The soil contains Neolithic and Early Medieval ceramics.
