Abstract

In the course of geological mapping in the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts in the years 2005 and 2006 revision of stratigraphy was done based on field observations of selected sections and on foraminifer biostratigraphy. The oldest sediments in the study area are Campanian upper member of the Godula Formation. The Istebna Formation did not contain stratigraphically useful autochthonous foraminifers, anyhow reworked nannofossils evidence the Campanian in the lower part. The type locality of the Rožnov (=Submenilite) Formation was revised. The foraminifer biostratigraphy indicates the lack the Eocene strata due to tectonic reduction. The succession of strata in the Menilite and Krosno formations are still not known well due to poor outcrops.
