Abstract

Development of natural landscape in the Holocene of the alpine stage in the Low Tatra Mts. is highlighted by the paleomalacological study of a sequence consisting of calcareous and organic-rich sediments occurring north of Liptovská Lužná village. The sequence can be subdivided into three parts overlying each other. The molluscan assemblages reflect environmental changes on the locality. They were caused by the existence and influence of a spring with limewater and by human activities - forest clearing and the subsequent grazing of herbaceous vegetation and scrub in the youngest Holocene.
