Abstract

This is a short information about the final step of the Czech Radioactive Waste Repository Authority project "Geological and other works on Test locality - 2nd stage" in the area of Melechov granite massif. The project was carried out by the Czech Geological Survey in cooperation with other geological institutions (Geonika, s.r.o., Praha, Geomin Co. Jihlava, Faculty of Science, Charles University Prague, Miligal, s.r.o., Brno, Technická universita in Liberec, Aquatest, a.s., Prague, Engineering Geology - Geotechnika, a.s., Praha, KaC, s.r.o., Hodonín and OKD DPB, a.s., Paskov). The following fields of geological problems were studied: - Detailed geoelectrical and geomagnetic profiling in selected areas - Summary interpretation of geophysical measurements - Detailed geological and hydrogeological mapping at the 1 : 10 000 scale of the Melechov massif in selected areas - Structural investigation of the Melechov massif area - Geochemical research of the selected areas and hydrochemical monitoring - Borehole drilling, well-log measurements, special hydrodynamical and geophysical drill-hole researches - Mathematical modelling of ground water migration - Project-database preparation. Based on the results of these works and with respect to previous research in the Melechov massif, four test polygons for the future testing programme have been selected.
