Abstract

The whole century has passed since the former suburb of Prague - more than a thousand years old village of Břevnov - was promoted to a town in 1907. Břevnov, one of many Prague districts nowadays, is located in very special hydrogeological conditions. The long-term ground-water exploitation has led to the creation of a very special system of drainage-galleries, water-pipelines and water-reservoirs, which had played an importantcrole in water supplying not only of the famous Břevnov Monastery but even the Prague Castle.
