Abstract

The unique architectural complex of the more than thousand years old Benedictine Břevnov Monastery, designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in very special hydrogeological conditions. Adverse terrain of the building site of this monastery is determined by its position on the edge of the Cenomanian aquifer, which was exploited since 10th century for water supplying of the Břevnov Monastery and adjoining areas.
