Abstract

Some agglutinated-foraminifer taxa new for the Carpathian Flysch are preliminarily described. Typical "North-Sea taxa" Insculptarenula aff. subvesicularis and Cystammina sveni occur very rarely in the Paleogene of the Silesian Unit. Annectina paleocenica known till now from the Paleocene of Kyzyl-Kum is recorded in the Paleocene of the Silesian Unit. Interesting deep-water agglutinated fauna was recovered using the acetolysis of Berriasian chert-aptychi limestone from Vigantice. Another poor-known forms are giant bathysiphons. Three different giant forms - some exceeding 21 cm - and one small were probably detritus-feeders specialised to the high phytodetritus influx during the deposition of the Istebna and Rožnov formations.
