Abstract

The Karpatian-Badenian boundary deposits of the Alpine-Carpathian Foredeep in Moravia and Lower Austria are subdivided into two parts. 1. Austrian part. Laa Formation - Karpatian. Grund Formation - Upper Karpatian - Lower Badenian including the Gaindorf Formation - Lower Badenian. Buchberg-Mailberg Formation - Lower Badenian. 2. Moravian part. Laa Formation - Karpatian. Grund Formation - Upper Karpatian - Lower Badenian. Basal sands and gravels with redeposited blocks of Karpatian clays (Lower Badenian). Sands with burried blocks of Grund and Laa formation (Lower Badenian) - Troskotovice. Clays - (Tegel) with sands and lithothamnion limestones - in the western part of the foredeep marine and fresh water deposits - Lower Badenian.
