Abstract

About 2 thick section trough Quaternary sediments was exposed during the excavation at the Zarazice railway station. Sandy gravel of the "main terrace" of the Morava River (Middle Pleistocene) is overlain by a bed of soil sediment disturbed by typical frost-wedge casts, evidencing the existence of fossil permafrost. The top part of the section is represented by the youngest loess with topsoil developed on its surface.
