Abstract

In the gas-main excavations south of Netřeba (about 7.5 km NE of Kralupy nad Vltavou), the Late Cretaceous (middle to late Cenomanian) strata wereexposed in the spring of 2000. Numerous fossils were collected and washed out from reddish clayey limestone underlying greenish sandy claystone poor in fossils. In addition to gastropods and bivalves, brachiopods are extraordinarily rich in the taphonocenosis. A preliminary determination indicated the presence of Phaseolina phaseolina (VALENCIENNES in LAMARCK), Cyclothyris aff. diformis (VAL. in LAM.) and Magas sp. This articles provides characteristics of the material together with a discussion of taphonomy and preservation.
