Abstract

The upper part of the Karpatian, known from the vicinity of Grund (in Austria) and from Znojmo-Hranice, Nesvačilka and others areas in the Austrian-Moravian part of the foredeep consists of zones with a) Globorotalia div. sp. b) Globigerinoides bisphericus. Representative of the genus Praeorbulina s.l. occur in the horizons overlying the Globigerinoides bisphercus zone (lower Badenian-Langhian). In the southern part of the foredeep, sedimentation between the zones with G. bisphericus and Praeorbulina" was not interssupted. For this part of Miocene the name Grund Formation has been proposed.
