Abstract

Study of the brachiopod fauna of the Upper Triassic of the Northern Calcareous Alps proceeded with field works in the Kössen Beds of the Hochalm area near Unken (Tyrol), and in the Dachstein limestones on thelocality Karlhochkogel in the Hochschwab (Styria). The most characteristic species of the latter locality is Oxycolpella eurycolpos (BITT.) - a forerunner of the Rhaetian Oxycolpella oxycolpos (SUESS). The laboratory study of the biplicate terebratulids collected during last several years in the variegated micrites from the Dachstein Plateau S. of Wiesberghaus (SSW of Hallstatt, Upper Austria) showed that all the material belongs to the Upper triassic Triadithyris gregariaeformis (ZUGM.) This helped to solve the former uncertainty concerning the age of the micrites (Triassic?-Liassic?).
