Abstract

The current period of rapid privatisation of formerly state-owned enterprises is streamlined to achieve increased efficiency and productivity of market economies. Privatisation, when combined with appropriate government remediation programs, can lead to the cleanup of the purchased properties. Public funding of cleanups is subject, according to the Czech laws, to the supervision of the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, Department of Ecological Damages. The Czech Geological Survey has played an important consulting role for the Department of Ecological Damages since March 1999, when the first assessment reports of the so called Risk Analyses were completed. This article provides a short review of the most common drawbacks of those Risk Analyses and their modifications.
