Przedsiebiorstwo Badan Geofizycznych (PBG), Poland

The Geophysical Exploration Company (PBG) is a state owned SME, founded in 1950. It has offered services on geophysical investigations to petroleum and structural geology, mineral and rocky raw material exploration, engineering geology, hydrogeology and environment protection in Poland and 15 countries abroad. PBG's activities have contributed to geological recognition of Poland and findings of oil and gas, metal ores, rocky and chemical raw material deposits and underground water. It's research activities on geoenergy include elaborating a concept and proposal for FP5 – CARTA (mapping possibilities on the use of geothermal and gas resources in Carpathians) and for FP6 – THERMA (the use of depleted hydrocarbon wells in thrust and folded structures for geothermal purposes). PBG participates, through ENeRG network, in CASTOR WP1.2 task on a preliminary mapping of CO2 emission sources and possible sinks in Poland.
