4th Work Meeting - Dubrovnik, 2-3 April 2008

 

The 4th Project Work Meeting will take place in Dubrovnik (Croatia) on 2-3 April
2008 as follows:

  Wednesday 2nd from 9.00 until 17.00 hours
  Thursday 3rd from 9.00 until 13.00 hours

 

Agenda

 

 

The meeting will take place in Hotel Argosy situated approximately 10 minutes drive outside Dubrovnik. A taxi from the airport will cost approx EUR 35-40.

 

Hotel Rooms

In this 3 star hotel we have been offered a room rate of EUR 77 for single occupancy/EUR 98 for double occupancy plus an additional tourist tax of EUR 1 per day.
This rate only applies if we book at least 20 rooms. To obtain this rate you must book by 10th March 2008.

 

Very near Hotel Argosy, and in the same resort, you can also choose Hotel President which is a 4 star hotel situated directly on the sea. The price for this hotel is EUR 100 for single occupancy plus the tourist tax of EUR 1 per day.

 

Finally, nearby there is also another 3 star hotel, Hotel Neptun, and their room rates are EUR 45 for single occupancy and EUR 55 for double occupancy. To obtain these rates, rooms must be booked no later than 15th February.
Breakfast is included in the above rates.

Geological excursion
will be organised on Friday 4th April (courtesy of the project).

The tentative agenda looks like this:

1. stop - Zaton Bay: geological transect through the External Dinaride Nappes (short walk through Upper cretaceous, Paleocene limestones into Eocene flysch and then to the thrust  contact between Dalmatian zone and the High Karst nappe.
2. stop - Arboretum Trsteno: visit to the oldest botanical garden of Dalmatia
3. stop - Panoramic view to Ston: area of recent seismic activity
4. stop - valk of the Veli Ston city walls
5. stop - vineyards at Peljesac peninsula
6. stop - Panoramic view of the Adriatic islands: geological structure of Peljesac and surroundings
7. stop - something between lunch and dinner at Mali Ston
