Applications for collections and material documentation

The collections applications enable searches to be made of all the specimens and samples in the palaeontological, mineralogical, rock, thin section and sample collections held by the CGS.

Alphabetical list of applications is generated automatically from records in the CGS metadata catalogue.

Boreholes material documentation Geofond (Czech only) – database

Application allows to search and view information about the boreholes material documentation stored in CGS external storages, department Geofond.

Documentation samples to geological maps (Czech only) – database

Application makes the records of all the documentary material to the mapping actions. Documentary material is sorted and stored in wooden crates for samples in the CGS depository in Lužná near Rakovník.

Mapping and documentation boreholes (under review process) – database

Application for search the core material of boreholes. Material is stored in wooden boxes in the CGS depository in Lužná near Rakovník. Drilling cores are under review process provided by members of Geofond division (dr. Alan Donát). They will be included into the database system of Boreholes material documentation Geofond, and thus currently unavailable to the study.

Mineralogical and geological collection (CGS collections) – database

Application allows synopsis of study material, including rock and mineral samples from the Bohemian Massif and a part of the West Carpathians, deposited in Collections of the CGS. The collections are included in the Central Registry of Museum-type Collections (CES evidence) with the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Setting up of the Collection and its utilization is regulated by the law 122/2000 Sb. The most valuable part of the fund is kept in premises (Collections) in the CGS building, Klárov, Praha 1. The other parts of collections are kept in the CGS depository in Lužná near Rakovník.

Thin sections documentation – database

Application makes information about entire thin section material stored in the CGS depositories in Prague.The material is sorted in the comprehensive database according to boxes and their description. Search of each deposited thin section is possible (database of thin section-boxes). For searching is possible to use names of minerals which are shared with geological code list of CGS.

Virtual museum of CGS collections – database

Virtual museum application provides an opportunity to visit on-line paleontological, mineralogical and geological collections of the Czech Geological Survey. Application offers wide visual and textual documentation of the most interesting exhibits of collections for general public and experts. Also paleontological collection of Central Registry of Museum-type Collections (CES evidence) and material administrated according to law 122/2000 Sb. is included. Application contains taxonomic tree, index of terms, stratigraphy and links to interesting sites. The application allows to search using the map.
