Mineralogy – separation

Mineral separation serves for an isolation or concentration of a certain type of grains from the sample. Different physical, chemical and physical-chemical characteristics are used for separation. As methods are preferably used magnetic, gravitational, formative, flotation and partial dissolution techniques. There is possible to determine even some specific determining characteristics of mineral phases, e.g. density or index of refraction.
