Geological Bibliography
of the Czech Republic

The extensive deposit fund of the CGS Geological Library has provided data for
the Geological Bibliography of the Czech Republic has been produced by the Library
since 1928. In this year it was included as a special supplement of Vestník Statniho geologickeho ustavu Ceskoslovenske republiky. From 1945 to 1990 the bibliography was published independently under the title "Mineralogical and geological bibliography of Czechoslovakia".

Geological Bibliography of the Czech Republic from the years 1928-1292, and 1999.

The bibliography comprises the works of the Czech authors published in the Czech and/or foreign journals and other documents as well as selected works of the foreign authors published in the accessible sources. In the bibliography the works are included which relate to the geology of the Bohemian Massif and the Czech part of the West Carpathian system. Newly, an independent part of the bibliography is a list of published geological and special maps.

The bibliographic record is based on the bibliographic description, which follows the ISBD(G) standard, the CSN ISO 690 Bibliographic recod standard and the relevant Czech regulations. In addition, the records involve systematic notation and descriptors from The Multilingual Thesaurus of Geosciences. Bibliographic records include English abstracts taken from primary documents. Thus in 1997 the Geological Bibliography. was transformed into an abstract journal.

The geological bibliography is strictly based on the primary documents, non-verified information or secondary source records are not included. The bibliography comprises author´s index, system-subject index, geographical index, index of localitites and regions and index of maps and explanatory texts. The bibliography is further supplied by a list of abbreviations of excerpted periodicals including the proper titles, ISSN, ISBN and location numbers, list of books and proceedings, from 2001 it also comprises a list of reviewed books and list of separates.

The Geological Bibliography is base on information sources permanently kept in the Library of the Czech Geological Survey.

The Geological bibliography of the Czech Republic in a new form and format has been published since 1991.

On-line computer catalogues (since 1990) enable an expanded and combined search of all bibliographic data.
