Expert Archive

As a leading centre of geoscience interest, the CGS Archives preserve one of the largest funds of maps in the Czech Republic, holding a good many unique manuscript and printed map documents.

  Archive Funds

The Archives of the Czech Geological Survey preserve the results of its professionals’ activities. Accessible to the public, the archive fund numbers more than 60,000 geological maps – over 47,000 printed and manuscript ones of the Czech Republic territories and of 188 other countries of the world – and over 13,000 unpublished reports. All the archived maps and accompanying documents have been digitized up to now. This fact not only gives the expert and general public easy access to the unique material, but also enables the production of map applications in CD and DVD formats.

Expert archive was moved to the maing building of the CGS Headquarters at Klárově and its services provides in the study room jointly with the Library.
