Exploration of raw materials for the glass and ceramic industry
As an integral part of the strategic program of the Vietnamese Government, a project was initiated during 2006 with the aim of defining raw material resources for the development of the glass and ceramics industry in the Socialistic Republic of Vietnam. Deposits of fine-grained quartz sands of Quaternary age occur along the shore line in the central provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Nam and Quang Binh. These areally extensive deposits are mostly high-grade and of small to medium workable thickness. A number of localities were explored but the technical parameters of the local sands have not yet been established.
The Czech Geological Survey participated in the project as the subcontractor of the company GET, Ltd. in 2006.
