Laboratory of Micropalaeontology & Chemostratigraphy

RNDr. Jana Drábková, head

Micropalaeontology and chemostratigraphy

Micropalaeontology and chemostratigraphy are core disciplines within modern academic and industrial geology, providing the prime basis for biostratigraphic and chemostratigraphic dating of sedimentary rocks. In addition, analysis of microfossil assemblage data and geochemical composition provides a wide range of proxy data for palaeoecology, palaeoceanography and palaeoclimate change research.

Micropalaeontology and chemostratigraphy research group

The Group has a wide range of research programmes that focus on Palaeozoic and Mesozoic microfossils. Besides own scietific activities, a core staff of three micropalaeontologists offers services on a commercial consultancy basis (see pricelist of analyses). Palaeontological analyses of several fossil groups are performed routinely including the following microfossil groups: spores and pollen, organic-walled microfossils and conodonts.
