Laboratory of Experimental Petrology

RNDr. Milan Drábek, CSc.
Head of the Laboratory

Field of Research

  • Phase relations within the S, Te and Se bearing systems
  • Phase relations within the PGE containing systems
  • Mineralogical aspects of radionuclides immobilization
  • Low-temperature hydrothermal interactions between granite and waste containing solutions

Experimental facilities

  • Horizontal furnaces with Nichrom (6) and Pt (1) winding. Temperature is controlled electronically and measured with Ni-NiCr or Pt-PtRh thermocouples.
  • High-pressure hydrothermal equipment with 6 cold-seal vessels operating up to 800 oC and 300 MPa.
  • Steel vessels with Teflon insert for low temperature hydrothermal experiments
  • Differential Thermal Analysis equipment for sulphide petrology. The charges are sealed in evacuated thermocouple well tubes of silica glass.
