Laboratory of Experimental Petrology
RNDr. Milan Drábek, CSc. Head of the Laboratory
Field of Research
- Phase relations within the S, Te and Se bearing systems
- Phase relations within the PGE containing systems
- Mineralogical aspects of radionuclides immobilization
- Low-temperature hydrothermal interactions between granite and waste containing solutions
Experimental facilities
- Horizontal furnaces with Nichrom (6) and Pt (1) winding. Temperature is controlled electronically and measured with Ni-NiCr or Pt-PtRh thermocouples.
- High-pressure hydrothermal equipment with 6 cold-seal vessels operating up to 800 oC and 300 MPa.
- Steel vessels with Teflon insert for low temperature hydrothermal experiments
- Differential Thermal Analysis equipment for sulphide petrology. The charges are sealed in evacuated thermocouple well tubes of silica glass.
