This book is a summary of the geological investigations conducted by a group of geologists from the Czech Geological Survey (CGS) in a broad area of the Czech part of the Krkonoše-Jizera Composite Massif within the last two decades. The first object of our observations was the interiors of the Bedřichov and Souš water supply tunnels in the Jizerské hory Mts. The second object of our observations was detailed geological mapping at the scale of 1 : 25 000 within a broad area between Liberec, Hejnice, Tanvald and Jablonec nad Nisou.

This Atlas of seventeen stratigraphic tables of geological systems of the Czech Republic is a product of a large group of geologists, mostly Czech Geological Survey employees. The tables cover all formations from the Proterozoic to the Holocene. Separate tables are dedicated to volcanic and plutonic rocks which display diagrammatically geological relations between individual magmatic bodies and geological ages formations into which these bodies were emplaced combined with the published radiometric data. A special table deals with the radiometric dating of metamorphic crystalline rocks.
