Thematic maps covering the whole of the Czech Republic

A number of thematic maps have been compiled at scales of 1 : 500,000 or 1 : 1,000,000 so the whole territory of the Czech Republic is covered on a single sheet. Some of these also include the territory of the Slovak Republic. A number of these printed maps have been published on CD as the Atlas of maps of the Czech Republic GEOČR 500.

Contributions to this map were made by V. Sattran (the CSR and the chronological scheme of ore mineralization in the Czech Massif; J. Ilavský (the SSR and the chronological scheme of ore mineralization in the West Carpathians), in cooperation with J.H. Bernard (classification of ore mineral associations); J. Pokorný (compilation of the legend); K. Pošmourný (Compilation of the legend using the geological base map of the CSR together with the Metallogenic maps of the CSSR at a scale of 1 : 200,000).

Map of the Mineral Waters of the CSSR at a scale of 1 : 500,000

M. Uherčíková

This map shows the distribution and types of mineral waters found in the Czech Republic. It shows the overall regional pattern and the location of individual sources of mineral water as a specific national resource. Details of the chemical composition of different types of water and their various uses are given as well as indications of areas in which new resources could be discovered. The map was compiled in the 1970s and 1980s under the direction of O. Frank from former Geological Institute of Dionýz Štúr in Bratislava and Margareta Kolářová from former Central Geological Institute in Prague. Some specialists from other research institutes took part in the compilation of the map (Balneological Research Institute in Prague, Geographical and Geophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences CR, Department of Geology in the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague and Comenius University in Bratislava) as well as from other survey organizations (IGHP Žilina, GP Ostrava), and the government Czech Spa Inspectorate of the Ministry of Health.
