Maps
The Czech Geological Survey is the institution founded and appointed by the Czech government to carry out geological mapping and research on behalf of the Czech nation. One of the task of the survey is to compile and maintain up-to-date regional geological base maps of the Czech Republic. The CGS publishes numerous thematic geo-scientific maps with explanatory notes that can be linked by digital GIS procedures to a wide range of geological and environmental information.

For some time, the CGS has been working to provide free access to digital geological and thematic maps and to some databases through Map Server applications and Web Map Services (WMS). These have been designed to be compatible with international standards for sharing GIS data in the internet environment. You can also download some of the CGS data sets via different types of download services.
