"Map of the Year 2022" award for the Czech Geological Survey

The Czech Geological Survey won the first prize in the category of „Atlases and map sets“ of the 25th edition of the prestigious Map of the Year competition of the Czech Cartographic Society with the map compilation Geology, Soil Environment and Hydrogeology of the Sidama Region, Ethiopia by editors Kryštof Verner and Leta Megerssa. This set of maps and explanatory notes is a result of a four-year-long work done by the joint Czech-Ethiopian team within the frame of the Czech development cooperation in Ethiopia, which is financed by the Czech Development Agency. Many thanks for this great success go not only to the editors and mapping geologists, but also to all the colleagues from collaborating institutes and last but not least to the experts in cartography and GIS processing, namely Petra Hejtmánková, Zuzana Krejčí and Eva Koseková. This award confirms the top level of the Czech Geological Survey in the field of cartographic processing of map outputs in the Czech Republic.
