Msc. Lucie Kondrová succesfully defended her PhD Thesis

January 14, 2016

On January 13th 2016, Msc. Lucie Kondrová from the CGS Information systems department succesfully defended her PhD thesis at the Department of Geomatics (Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague). The title of the thesis is „Data Model for the 3D Geological Modeling of the Area of the Czech Republic“. Her supervisor Lena Halounová (Associate professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU in Prague) and both opponents Jiří Horák (Associate professor at the Institute of Geoinformatics, VŠB-TU Ostrava) and Robert Tomas, Ph.D. (European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre) acknowledged the high level of the elaboration of the thesis, which shifts the possibilities of the geological recognition by proposing establishment of the National 3D Geological database GEOČR3D. This database will serve as a data source for the geological modeling of the area of the Czech Republic, for storage of 3D data and models, and for their subsequent visualization. This topic will be further developed within the framework of the Strategic Research Plan of the Czech Geological Survey for the years 2016-2020.We want to congratulate our colleague Lucie on the completion of the intensive research and on the freshly obtained PhD degree. We wish her a lot of research and personal success in the future!
