These sections make significant contributions to the CGS information system through improvements to the content and accessibility of databases, and by providing public information services. The work of the individual sections is coordinated to ensure that a comprehensive and professional service is provided. Researchers have at their disposal two stylishly equipped study rooms where items from the CGS library, archive and collections can be examined on request.

Section 731 – Library

The library gathers, stores and makes accessible publications in the field of geosciences from all over the world, both in printed and electronic form. It compiles a geological bibliography based on publications by Czech and foreign authors relating to the geology of the Czech Republic. More than 165 thousand individual books are held in the CGS geological library which is the largest collection of geoscientific publications in the Czech Republic. Through inter-library loan services the CGS library also provides access to publications from other Czech and foreign libraries.
