Maximum manifestations of volcanism took place in the Magnitogorsk Megazone; much less masses of volcanic rocks are characteristic of the Kuragan-Sakmara zone. A significant deepening of the basin was associated with rift basaltic volcanism at the end of the costatus Conodont Zone and continued through the australis and kockelianus zones. Prolonged deepening in the Frasnian began in the punctata Zone and continued until the tectonic calm of the Late rhenana Zone. Maximum shallowing occurred at the end of the varcus zone. Faunal changes followed with the more pronounced mass extinction of different faunal groups occurring at the F/F boundary. ER -
