They can be subdivided into three categories. The most important ones are represented by breaks in deposition on a regional scale, such as between the Early and Middle (locally even Late) Namurian in the Upper Silesian Basin, Bolsovian and Westphalian D, and between Stephanian B and C in northeastern, central, and western Bohemia, and between Autunian and Saxonian in the Krkonose Piedmont and the Intra-Sudetic basins. The presence of hiatuses at these levels has been also reported from a number of European Late Paleozoic basins. The second category of such breaks in deposition occurs only in parts of certain basins. It includes hiatuses in the Bolsovian of the Kladno-Rakovnik Basin, between Stephanian C and Autunian, and in the Autunian within the Intra-Sudetic and/or Krkonose Piedmont basins. The sharp boundary between Permian and Triassic deposits in the Intra-Sudetic and Krkonose Piedmont basins is also related to this category. The third category includes the presumed (Wagner 1977) but hitherto unproven hiatus between the Westphalian D and the Late Stephanian B in central and western Bohemia. ER -
